＜Volcanic Warning (Near Crater) Remains in Effect (Volcanic Alert Level 2: Do not approach the crater)＞ At Mount Tokachi, active volcanic activity is continuing. Eruptions that could affect the area within approximately 1.5 km of the 62-2 Crater may still occur.

 

Status of Volcanic Activity There have been no eruptions since August 6.

 

Near the 62-2 Crater and the Furikozawa Fumarole Area, elevated thermal activity continues, including increased heights of volcanic plumes/fumaroles, frequent incandescence (glowing phenomena), and rising temperatures at the Furikozawa Fumarole Area.

 

Since March, crustal deformation indicating swelling at somewhat deeper levels beneath the mountain body has continued. Since April, an increase in volcanic gas (sulfur dioxide) emissions and slightly heightened seismic activity near and around the 62-2 Crater have been observed, with occasional volcanic earthquakes of large amplitude being recorded.

 

At Mount Tokachi, volcanic activity remains elevated, and eruptions that could affect the area within approximately 1.5 km of the 62-2 Crater may still occur.

 

Precautionary Measures / Warnings Within an area of approximately 1.5 km from the 62-2 Crater, be on alert for large volcanic blocks launched along ballistic trajectories during eruptions. Follow instructions from local authorities and do not enter dangerous areas. Downwind areas should be cautious of ashfall and small volcanic cinders being carried by the wind over long distances.
